Saturday: Our God moves in remarkable ways! Amidst some transportation issues from the start, our blcym students have not only taken every opportunity to experience one another- they have done it enthusiatically as they grow together as a family in God. We arrived safely at our host congregation, La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church, early Saturday evening, enjoyed a great dinner (more on the remarkable work of Jon, ChaCha, and Rosanna- our kitchen crew- later in the blogs) and kicked off the retreat with an exciting night of worship led by J-Unit (Andy, Brian, and Marisa).
Sunday: We spent Sunday morning in worship with La Casa and, after lunch, went to have a blast at Chase Field to see the Arizona Diamondbacks (thaks goodness for indoor stadiums and air conditioning!!!). With a win for the home team, a couple home runs that got kind of close to us, we decided that next time we'd have to rent out the pool in the outfield for the ministry. After dinner, we gathered in our small groups to discuss the devotional readings and tried to figure out what Paul meant (check out the devotional link for more). we finished off the evening with another night of great live worship from J-Unit.
Prayers: Thank you for keeping all of us in your prayers but particularly our adult leaders Dennis, Jillian, Dana, Julie, Skye, Mary, John, ChaCha, and Rosanna. Pray for our health and safety. Pray that our students' hearts may be broken wide open to the drastic, far-reaching change that can occur in their lives if they only center themselves around the Living God.
Check back tomorrrow to see what happened at the work projects and where the students went in the afternoon!
