Walkin'

This week, we deal with the question of trust and use Genesis 6 as a starting point. With so many preconceived notions associated with the story of God and Noah, it is difficult to keep from the "Sunday School" responses that we learned so long ago. As a solution to that problem, read through the story with fresh eyes, looking for ways that Noah showed his incredible trust in the Lord and the Lord's plan for him. As we read, we individually come to the uncomfortable crossroads of what we care to do and what we are called to do as we walk with God.

Taking it Deeper:

Verse 9 not only introduces us to Noah, but tells us that he "walked with God." Can you say that about your life? Are there days (or even much longer) that might not fall under that category?

What God tells Noah to do is seemingly crazy, yet Noah, who truly trusted the Lord, didn't ignore Him. Has fear or time or others ever convinced you from trusting God?

Where have you felt God pulling on your heart to stand out and be different for Him?

The basic question of trust in God, it turns out, is not so basic at all. We coerce ourselves into thinking that we can partially trust in Him but that cannot be the case- you trust or you don't. Where are you with this, right now?

A Challenge for the Week:

Wherever you concentrate your time, energy, resourses, etc., implies trust. If you were to summarize your life with a sentence, work this week to become that introduction of Noah's and "walk with God" each minute...

A Prayer for the Week:

Lord, I know that you love me always. I also know that sometimes, because of my own boastfulness, I get caught up in this ego-centric world and place my trust not in You, but myself. God, help me to fully trust in You and your plan for me. Help me to get into discussions with others so that I may have partners in figuring out my part in Your kingdom. Give me the strength to stand when those around me push my focus from You. Guide my heart and my life always in your Son's glorious name. Amen.
